The photograph was taken in 1942 or earlier; the same image of Lawson was also printed in the December 1942 issue of the Rutgers Alumni Monthly.

Ed Lawson writes: “I am now with the United Nations as assistant director of the Human Rights Division. In this job I act as secretary of the Human Rights Commission, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Discrimination and the Protection of Minorities; I also prepare materials for the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council when human rights questions come up.”
